Inter Milan

Inter were founded in Milan in 1908 by a group that broke away from the Milan Cricket and Football Club over its refusal to field foreign players. The new club took the name Internazionale to say exactly that, and has never changed it. Since 1947 they have shared the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza at San Siro with Milan, a ground holding roughly 75,000 that both clubs have spent years trying to replace.

Inter have never been relegated, the only club to have played every season of Serie A since the league took its modern form in 1929. Twenty-one league titles put them second in Italy behind Juventus. Three European Cups came in 1964, 1965 and 2010, and the last of those completed the only treble won by an Italian club, under José Mourinho.

Oaktree Capital took control in 2024 after the club's previous owners defaulted on a loan against their shares, and the stadium question has run alongside every sporting story since.
