Cristian Chivu

Cristian Chivu is Inter's head coach, born in Reșița in western Romania in October 1980. As a player he was a left-footed defender who captained Ajax, winning the Eredivisie in 2002 and 2004, then spent four seasons at Roma before Inter signed him in 2007. He won three Serie A titles in Milan and was part of the 2010 side that completed the treble under José Mourinho. That same year he fractured his skull in a collision at Chievo and played the rest of his career in protective headgear. He was capped 75 times by Romania.

He retired in 2014 and returned to Inter as a youth coach in 2018, winning the Primavera championship in 2022. His first senior job was at Parma, where he arrived in February 2025 with the club in the relegation zone and kept them up. Inter appointed him in June 2025 to replace Simone Inzaghi.

His first season produced the league and Coppa Italia double, the Scudetto secured with three games to spare, and the Serie A Coach of the Season award. He is one of two men to have won the Scudetto with Inter as both player and coach, after Armando Castellazzi.
