Josep Martínez is Inter's goalkeeper, born in Alzira near Valencia and known as Pepo. He came through Barcelona's youth system, played his first senior football at Las Palmas, and joined RB Leipzig in 2020, where he barely played. Genoa took him on loan in 2022 and signed him permanently a year later, and two seasons in Liguria, one in Serie B and one in Serie A, made his name.

Inter bought him from Genoa in the summer of 2024 for a fee reported at around €15 million. He spent two seasons as Yann Sommer's deputy, playing most of the club's Coppa Italia matches, and was the goalkeeper for much of the run to the 2026 Coppa Italia win. When Sommer's contract ended that summer, Inter promoted him to first choice and gave him the number one shirt for 2026/27.

He is comfortable with the ball at his feet, which suits how Inter build from the back, and he has one senior cap for Spain, won in 2021. In October 2025 he was the driver in a road accident near Inter's training ground in which an elderly man died.
