Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 31 October in a Bundesliga Klassiker with the top of the table at stake. Kick-off is 18:30 CET (17:30 GMT).
Both sides are unbeaten after seven matches and level on 17 points, with five wins and two draws each. Bayern lead on goal difference, according to Goal (+19 against +8), so whoever wins on Saturday will move three points clear of the other.
Bayern's goals against one of the league's tightest defences
Bayern have scored 25 league goals, 18 of them at home, which bundesliga.com describes as a club record for this stage of a season. Michael Olise has six league goals and three assists, and Serge Gnabry scored his 100th Bundesliga goal for the club in the win over Freiburg last week. Dayot Upamecano has started all seven league games, and Bayern have not lost a league game he has played in over his last 51 appearances.
Harry Kane has four league goals this season and arrives fresh from receiving the Ballon d'Or on Monday. "It's been a whirlwind 48 hours, it's nice to be back here and feel at home again," he said, according to AFP.
Dortmund have scored 12 league goals, the ninth-best attack in the league, but have one of the best defensive records. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has five clean sheets and an 82 per cent save rate, though he has never won in 10 Bundesliga games against Bayern, bundesliga.com noted. Serhou Guirassy has two league goals, plus four in three Champions League matches, and right-back Julian Ryerson leads the league with 34 crosses without an assist yet.
Danks leads Bayern while Kompany recovers
Vincent Kompany will not be on the touchline. AFP reported that he was released from hospital on Wednesday after five days, and that Bayern said his return to work would take "weeks, not days". Assistant Aaron Danks leads the team.
"You've seen the full extremes of life in the last week," Danks said, according to AFP.
On the pitch, bundesliga.com lists Luis Díaz as out and Manuel Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich as doubts, with Jamal Musiala working his way back. Goal lists Neuer, Pavlović and Musiala as out. Final team news arrives on matchday. Dortmund are without Emre Can, so Nico Schlotterbeck wears the armband after returning from injury.
Bayern have won the last two league meetings
Bayern won 2-1 in this fixture on 18 October 2025 and 3-2 at Dortmund on 28 February 2026, Goal reports. Last season they finished 16 points clear of their closest challengers, and Dortmund coach Niko Kovač says his side are "getting closer" to Bayern, according to AFP.
What each result would mean
A home win would give Bayern a three-point lead. A Dortmund win would send them top on points and give Kobel his first Bundesliga win over Bayern. A draw keeps the two level, with Bayern ahead on goal difference.
