Australian Open 2027 runs from 11 to 31 January. Ground Passes are capped each day for the first time, and early-bird prices end on 30 November

The 2027 Australian Open runs from Monday 11 to Sunday 31 January at Melbourne Park, and tickets have been on sale since August. For anyone who has not bought yet, two details matter more than the rest. For the first time, Tennis Australia is capping the number of Ground Passes it sells for each day. And early-bird Ground Pass pricing ends at 12.59pm Melbourne time on Monday 30 November.

When is the Australian Open 2027?

The tournament lasts three weeks. Opening Week runs from Monday 11 to Saturday 16 January and covers qualifying and open practice sessions. The AO 1 Point Slam, which puts community club players on court against some of the sport's biggest names, returns in the same week.

Opening Week is no longer a quiet warm-up. It drew 217,999 of the record 1,368,043 fans who came through the gates in 2026.

When does the Australian Open 2027 main draw start?

Main-draw singles begin on Sunday 17 January, the fourth year running that the tournament has opened on a Sunday. The first week of the main draw runs to Sunday 24 January. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals fall in the second week.

The women's singles final is scheduled for Saturday 30 January, with the men's final set for Sunday 31 January. Tennis Australia describes the schedule as provisional and current as of August 2026, and says match dates may change.

How do you buy Australian Open 2027 tickets?

Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster, the tournament's official ticketing partner, at ticketmaster.com.au/ausopen. The public sale opened at 12pm on Thursday 13 August, earlier than the tournament has ever released tickets. Three pre-sales came first: one for fans with accessibility needs, one for Mastercard holders and one for AO Extras subscribers. Signing up to AO Extras is the way into that pre-sale next year.

The choice is between reserved seats in Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and John Cain Arena, or a Ground Pass for the wider precinct. Premium hospitality is sold separately as AO Reserve. Accessible seating can be booked through Ticketmaster or on the Australian Open Accessibility Line, 1300 308 999, between 9am and 5pm every day. It covers wheelchair bays, ease-of-access seats and enhanced vision seats.

Buying now does not put a ticket on your phone straight away. Ticketmaster says scannable tickets will appear in buyers' accounts in late November, and entry is by mobile ticket.

Why are Australian Open Ground Passes capped?

The Ground Pass is the tournament's entry-level ticket. It covers the outdoor courts, the big screens, practice sessions and Grand Slam Oval, plus unreserved seating in John Cain Arena when there is room. It does not include a seat in Rod Laver Arena or Margaret Court Arena. Holders can scan out and come back in on the same day.

Tennis Australia's chief commercial officer, Cedric Cornelis, said demand for 2027 was expected to be stronger than ever, especially in the first week of the main draw, and that daily allocations would be capped as a result.

If week one is on your radar, getting tickets early is the best way to avoid missing out.

Neither Tennis Australia nor Ticketmaster has said how many Ground Passes will be available each day, or whether the cap is the same every day. The practical effect of any cap is that a day can sell out before the gates open.

When does Australian Open early-bird pricing end?

Early-bird pricing ends at 12.59pm on Monday 30 November, Melbourne time. That is 01:59 GMT the same day, and 8.59pm Eastern on Sunday 29 November. Tennis Australia attaches the early-bird price to the Ground Pass. It has not said what a Ground Pass will cost once the offer ends.

How much are Australian Open 2027 tickets?

One 2027 price has been published. Ground Passes start at A$49 on early-bird pricing, a figure Cornelis says has not risen since 2019.

There is no published price list for the arenas. Melbourne Park says reserved-seat prices depend on the venue, the session, the stage of the tournament and whether early-bird pricing applies. Any 2027 arena price quoted elsewhere is not an official one.

What has not been announced yet?

Tennis Australia has said session times, daily scheduling and the wider event programme will be confirmed closer to the tournament. Melbourne Park says the same of the music and entertainment line-up. The size of the daily Ground Pass cap and the Ground Pass price after 30 November are also unpublished.

For last year's tournament, Tennis Australia published its detailed provisional schedule in late October. This guide will be updated when the 2027 version arrives.

The 2027 defending champions

Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina return as champions. Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic in four sets in the 2026 final for his first Australian Open title and seventh major, handing the ten-time champion his first defeat in a Melbourne final. Rybakina beat the world No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka, to become the first player from Kazakhstan to win an Australian Open singles title. The other majors sell on their own timetables. Roland-Garros tickets are not on sale yet, and the Wimbledon ballot for 2027 has closed.
