Joan Garcia is a Barcelona and Spain goalkeeper from Sallent de Llobregat, in the Bages region of Catalonia. He started out as an outfield player before following his older brother into goal, and played youth football at Sallent, Manresa and Damm before Espanyol signed him at 15.
He made his Espanyol first-team debut at the end of 2021 and became their first-choice goalkeeper in 2023/24, the season in which the club won promotion back to La Liga. He then played a central part in Espanyol's fight to stay in the top flight in 2024/25.
Barcelona activated his release clause and signed him in the summer of 2025, on a contract running to 30 June 2031.
He has represented Spain from under-17 level through to the senior team.
