Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff is an American player born in Atlanta and raised in Delray Beach, Florida, where her family moved so she could train. Both parents were college athletes, and her father has coached her throughout, alongside a rotating team of specialists.

She arrived at fifteen by beating Venus Williams in the first round at Wimbledon in 2019, a debut that made her famous before she had a professional record to justify it. The game that followed is built on speed and defence: she covers more court than almost anyone on tour and turns rallies she should have lost.

Her first major came at the US Open in 2023. She won the WTA Finals in Riyadh the following year, the youngest champion at the season-ending event since Maria Sharapova in 2004, and took Roland-Garros in 2025, the first title in Paris by an American woman in a decade. She has also been one of the more outspoken young athletes in American sport on issues off the court.
