Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is a forward for Trabzonspor and Egypt, born in Nagrig in the Nile Delta, where a daily commute of several hours to training in Cairo became part of the story told about him long before he left the country. Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma came first; Liverpool signed him in 2017.

The nine years at Anfield made him one of the club's defining modern players. He won the Champions League in 2019 and the league title in 2020, ending a thirty-year wait, then a second in 2025. He plays off the right and cuts inside onto his left foot, a pattern defenders have known about for a decade and still struggle to stop.

He left Liverpool in the summer of 2026 by mutual agreement, a year early and after a difficult final season, and signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor in August 2026.
