Alexander Isak is a Swedish striker who joined Liverpool from Newcastle United on deadline day in September 2025, for a fee reported at the time as a British record. He came through at AIK in Stockholm, moved to Borussia Dortmund as a teenager, and made his name at Real Sociedad before Newcastle signed him in 2022. On Tyneside he was the focal point of the side that won the Carabao Cup in March 2025, ending the club's long wait for a domestic trophy, and he scored in that final against Liverpool.
His first season at Anfield was shaped by injury. An ankle problem that included a fibula fracture, sustained while scoring at Tottenham in December 2025, cost him most of the second half of the campaign and limited his starts. He began 2026/27 fully fit and as Andoni Iraola's first-choice striker.
Tall, quick and comfortable receiving on the half-turn, Isak is at his best running in behind or arriving late in the box, and he presses from the front in a way that suits Iraola's demands.
