Cody Gakpo is a Dutch forward who joined Liverpool from PSV in January 2023. Born in Eindhoven, he first trialled at PSV at the age of six, came through the club's academy and made his first-team debut as a substitute against Feyenoord in February 2018. He was the reigning Dutch Footballer of the Year when Liverpool signed him.
At Anfield he has been used both on the left and as a central forward, a role Jürgen Klopp first asked him to play in his early months at the club. He was part of the side that won the Premier League title in 2024/25.
A Netherlands international since 2021, he has been a regular in the national team's attack under Ronald Koeman and now Xavi Hernández.
