Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry is a guard for the Golden State Warriors, born in Akron, Ohio, and raised in Charlotte, where his father Dell spent most of a sixteen-year NBA career. Overlooked by major college programmes because of his size, he went to Davidson, carried them to a memorable NCAA tournament run and was drafted seventh in 2009.

He changed the sport more directly than any player of his era. The distance he shoots from, the speed he shoots at and the movement he does it off forced defences to redesign themselves, and a generation now trains for a game he effectively invented.

He has spent his whole career with one franchise, winning four championships in the Bay Area and finally taking a Finals MVP award in 2022. The unanimous MVP season of 2015-16 ended in a Finals defeat from three games to one up, and he closed the Paris 2024 Olympic final with a run of long-range shooting that decided the gold medal against France.
