Honor 10 vs Oneplus 6 : Reasons why this should be your next phone

There are many excellent simple mobile phones out there.Honor 10 and OnePlus 6, the latest flagship smartphones from both brands, were launched in India earlier this week at events held in Mumbai and London respectively.

The device has a beautiful finish and some impressive specs, but it also faces some stiff competition, especially following the announcement of the OnePlus 6

Both Honor and OnePlus are known for delivering powerful hardware at more affordable prices than companies like Samsung and Apple, but how do they compare to each other?Your eyes might gravitate toward the notch, but most of the time, they will be on the actual display. Even on this front, there are key differences in size, display type, and resolution.

We take a look at the price, specifications, features of the OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 to help you make the right buying decision.


OnePlus 6
The OnePlus 6 is the first notched OnePlus phone and offers the largest ever display yet from the company with around 83.8 per cent screen to body ratio.A dual rear camera is present on the OnePlus 6 too, though it is in a vertically-arranged format positioned in the centre.

A fingerprint sensor is also present below the dual camera arrangement, with the OnePlus logo beneath that.The OnePlus 6 measures 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75mm and weighs 177g, making it slightly larger and heavier than the Honor 10.

It too features a glass rear, with three colour options available and there is a display notch on this device too, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The OnePlus 6 is also water resistant however, something the Honor 10 is not.

The Honor 10 has a striking finish thanks to the 15 layers of 3D glass featured on the back of the device. The Honor 10 measures 149.6 x 71.2 x 7.7mm, weighs 153g and it keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack intact.

The Honor 10 also brings a notched display on the front. But the biggest USP of the phone is actually on the back. Like the Huawei P20 and P20 Lite, the Honor 10 uses a curved glass on the back that is designed in a way to bend light.

OnePlus 6
Talking about the OnePlus 6 first, the phone sports a 6.28-inch screen and FullHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio which is larger than its predecessors, the One+ 5T & One+ 5.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset and will be offered in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. The 6GB version will come with 64GB of internal storage while the 8GB RAM variant is paired with 128GB of storage.

Honor 10
The Honor 10 sports a smaller 5.84-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 19:9 display. It is powered by Huawei’s custom Kirin 970 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Unlike the OnePlus 6 which runs near stock Android, the Honor 10 runs a EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo which is more cluttered and bloated.


OnePlus 6
As far as cameras are concerned, the dual rear cameras on the OnePlus 6 include a 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor paired with f/1.7 aperture and OIS support and a secondary 20-megapixel Sony IM376K sensor with EIS.

Meanwhile, the selfie camera gets a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and EIS.On the front, the OnePlus 6 has a 16-megapixel sensor with support for the company’s Face Unlock feature

Honor 10
The Honor 10 features a dual camera on its rear. This camera is made up of a 24-megapixel monochrome sensor coupled with a 16-megapixel RGB colour sensor.Honor’s new flagship sports a dual rear camera system which includes one 16-megapixel RGB sensor and another 24-megapixel monochrome sensor.

Both have an aperture of f/1.8 and also there’s PDAF for fast focusing and LED flash. The cameras support bokeh mode and 2X optical zoom.
The front camera on the Honor 10 is a 24-megapixel sensor that supports 3D facial recognition, optimises facial details and detects facial points to the pixel.


The OnePlus 6 will run Android 8.1 with OxygenOS.

The Honor 10 runs on Android with the company’s EMUI 8.1 software over the top.


OnePlus 6
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 630 GPU and 6GB/ 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.Connectivity options on the OnePlus 6 include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C. Sensors onboard the smartphone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass, gyroscope, fingerprint sensor, and proximity sensor.

On the other hand, Honor 10 runs EMUI 8.1 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It sports a 5.84-inch full-HD+ FullView display with a similar 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM.

In terms of connectivity, the Honor 10 gets 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, NFC, GPS, and USB Type-C. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and an Ultrasonic Under Glass fingerprint sensor.


Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched the Honor 10 at a price of Rs 32999.
while the new OnePlus 6 now starts at Rs 34,999 for the base 6GB + 64GB variant.

Both devices offer flagship grade hardware, offering great value for money.
